The report reviews federal programs affecting young adults with autism, although most program are not specifically targeted to autism.

Among other things, the 96-page report recommends more research into the needs of transitioning youth and adults with autism. It also recommends better coordination of disability-related services among federal, state, and community agencies, including between childhood and adult service systems. It says, "Support is needed generally for individuals and their caregivers who too often are required to understand complex program provisions and eligibility without the help of trained professionals or without the proximity or affordability of those programs."
