Anxiety Drug Reduces Problems in Mice with Autism-Related Gene Change

An anxiety drug reduced some learning and social problems found in mice with a genetic change associated with autism, according to a new research study.

The mice were missing a copy of the ARID1B gene and had behavioral problems. They improved with the anxiety drug clonazepam. This type of research may lead to treatments for people with a variant of the ARID1B gene, according to an article in Spectrum News (see below).
