IAN Research on Wandering Has Impact

Date Published:
March 6, 2018

Research by the Interactive Autism Network into wandering continues to have an impact. Last month, a local government in California approved a program to help find people with autism or dementia who wander away from safe places. Among other things, supporters of the measure cited research by IAN, which in 2012 found that almost half of children with autism wander or run away. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved the Project Lifesaver program, which was also supported by advocates for people with dementia.
