Some with Autism Have Distinct Metabolic Signatures

A new study has found that about 17 percent of children with autism have distinct metabolic signatures, or differences, from the general population. These differences were detected through laboratory testing. This research could lead to the identifcation of people with certain subtypes of autism that may respond to dietary or drug treatments, according to the study's authors. The study was conducted by researchers at Stemina Biomarker Discovery Inc. and The MIND Institute and Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, University of California Davis.1
