Webinar on Autism and Genetics
Dr. Christopher Walsh of Boston Children's Hospital will give a free online presentation on "Mosaic Mutations – present in some brain cells but not all brain cells – and Their Relevance to Autism" at 1 p.m. EST. Webinar Description: Genetic mutations can occur in the zygote, affecting all cells, but sometimes they also happen after the zygote is formed, passing down to only certain cells in the body. A zygote is a fertilized egg before it becomes an embryo. Dr. Walsh's lab works to understand these post-zygotic mutations and how they influence autism spectrum disorders. He will discuss why they occur, how they are found, and how they are associated with different conditions, like autism. This webinar is free to join, but registration is required.
