Scientists Find Area of Prenatal Brain Affected by Autism Genes

Scientists say that nine genes associated with autism begin to affect the area of the brain called the pre-frontal cortex during the first two trimesters of pregnancy. A team of researchers from University of California San Francisco, Yale School of Medicine, and other centers published their findings in Cell in November. Their research included data from the Simons Simplex Collection autism project. Return to News section.
